In 2003, like thousands of other women, I had surgery for breast cancer and in September 2007 I found out I had bowel cancer. That was when I realised that once you have had cancer surgery, you cannot just go back to your life as it was and expect cancer to stay away. I have learned the hard way that you need to make fundamental changes in lifestyle and diet in order to keep cancer at bay. I spent the next nine months finding out everything I could about what makes cancer thrive and how to make my body inhospitable to this disease. I explored many different ways to help the body to fight back because I needed to know how to help myself as naturally as possible to cope with this very frightening disease. Not only that, how to deal with the harsh cancer treatments - the effects of chemo/radiotherapy and major surgery. With the latest statistic showing that 1 in 2 people in the US have or will have cancer in their lifetime and 1 in 3 in the UK, I know that what I have learned must be shared.
